Jody + Mike : Married

I love my brides and my grooms. I'm fortunate enough to have some incredible clients that totally, completely, wholly trust me as well as have the added bonus of being hilarious. Jody and Mike make me laugh. From the day I met them last September at our client meeting and they professed to be "nerds" to their fab engagement session where they got their model faces on: I love their sense of humour.

Their wedding day was full of great surprises around every corner, their outdoor ceremony was so full of love, I think even Robin may have choked up a little. After the ceremony, we spent the afternoon shooting some fabulous photos at their acreage, and around Saskatoon. The evening finished up with a great reception with Mike and Jody's friends and family.

Take a look at some details from their spectacular wedding day...I could have shot Jody's niece all day, she was couldn't keep her eyes off of Auntie Jody, can you blame her?

Chantelle + Brady=Engaged

I feel like I know these two... in the way that the internet can make you feel like you know someone. Oh the age of facebook: looking at photos, reading notes about life's ups and downs, following Annie's statuses. I just can't help it, Chantelle and Brady are too adorable for words. The truth is in the photos.

A young couple, so in love with each other, I can't wait for their wedding next year!

PS don't you think Brady looks like a young Peter Fonda??

Paulette + Karl : Engaged

The sounds of rocky loose pavement crunch under the weight of their feet. Hand in hand, they walk through the allies of Downtown Saskatoon and smile. I quietly but enthusiastically ask them to check out the chairs left in the alley, at first Paulette was doubtful, but she surprised me and rocked out the chairs. This couple is so special, Karl adores Paulette, you can just see it in his eyes. In the words of Robert Palmer, this Doctor in training, has a bad case of lovin' Paulette!

These two are a fairytale couple, they met, fell in love, she moved to the States for school, he stayed here for Med School, all the while keeping their amazing bond and love for each other going strong! Karl proposed in Hawaii and now they're planning their wedding from a distance, but I'm thrilled to be the lucky photographer for their special day in right after Christmas!

Amanda & Ivan : Married

Well I am back, after a 2 week hiatus from blogging, be prepared for a lot of catch up. This month is flying by and so many shoots, I admit I have gotten a little behind. So check back often for some great posts!

And now for Amanda and Ivan. I travelled to their home town of Norquay, SK to shoot their prairie wedding. It was amazing, I love small towns! By the end of the weekend I felt like part of the family.

Amanda and Ivan were married in a beautiful Ukrainian Church, full of tradition... I ate it all up, it was amazing! After the ceremony we left on the "stretch limo" a.k.a. the fabulous motor home for some formal shots. We went to a lake, and travelled around the beautiful country. The canola was amazing, green and this couple was stunning! Thanks for letting me part of your day. I am so sad to hear you are moving south, but I am sure your family definitely approves!

Jody + Mike : Engaged

I had such a blast with these two. Jody & Mike just bought their first home together, and it was breathtaking. The grounds around the house lead from one great location to the next. These two are fabulous... Mike is sooooo funny! He really loved hammin it up for my camera, and I really appreciated it too! He has a way of making Jody laugh, and this gorgeous bride to be has the most beautiful, natural smile, and I was happy to oblige and snap away. At one point in the evening Mike even wrote and sang for me a little tune on his GEE-Tar all about my photography, I think I may have even blushed :) I am so excited for their wedding, enjoy some of my favs from the night...

Jody and Mike would like to thank their friends for this wonderful "house warming present" ... it made for a great prop in the flowers.
Jody really wanted to do this shot, I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I love it. Its kind of a throwback to a 1950s ad. (Jody you really did rock the lawnmower!)
This is when Mike sang me MY Song! Thanks Mike I will treasure this moment forever.. haha

These two are so in love, I can't wait for your big day!

They even went on the crazy idea I had, and for the final frames of the night had some fun in the pool. You two ROCK!

Fuentes Family

I met Oral a long time ago, and ever since have been blessed with a wonderful friendship that has included shots for his fabulous Band: Oral Fuentes Reggae Band. He rocked the house at our wedding reception last year, people are still talking about it!
So when his beautiful wife Beth contacted me to take some family pictures for them I was delighted! Beth and Oral welcomed their beautiful daughter Safiya earlier this year, and Roquel was visiting for summer so it was the perfect time. We headed out on a hot hot day, and had some fun, I am so impressed at what a hottie Beth is for just having Safiya, thanks for rockin it out Beth! Donna + Brian: Wedding

Donna & Brian are such an amazing couple, they are so in love with each other its crazy! It was incredible to witness week long events they put together for family and friends that have travelled near and far to take part in the wedding festivities. Donna & Brian put together a great day with the Traditional Sikh ceremony as well as a Western Ceremony. Donna is so gorgeous I am still trying to convince her to model for me all the time! Enjoy some favs of the day...

Skye+Luke: Wedding

Skye and Luke had a intimate backyard wedding and no detail was spared. RSVP did an amazing job coordinating their dream wedding. Skye and Luke had been planning for a year for their special day, she really did pull off her west-coast California inspired dream wedding. The day was beautiful and hot and sunny and they were oh so fabulous! Here are some of my fav's from their day...

Skye's Grandma gave her the same gold bangle she wore on her wedding day, I love it!

Their flowers were down by the fabulous Heather Richardson. They were the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. If you are looking for a unique twist on your flowers give her a shout at 306-280-5969. Every bridesmaid had a different bouquet, one even had mini pineapples!!

Skye and her friends all have worn these shoes on their wedding day, it tradition. And have now been passed on to the next bride to be.

Skye & Luke opted for a first look. I absolutely love when my couples opt for this, it leaves so much time for pictures, and more time to mingle with guests after the ceremony.

Back from Holidays and Website Branding

So I am back and my summer holidays are officially over... But I had a great time relaxing and gearing up for a very busy fall. Since we took a couple weeks off I am a little behind on the editing process, but there some fabulous weddings that will be posted soon, so be sure to check back often.

And on another exciting note, I am SO proud to finally launch my NEW website!!! It has been a great process and had a great time working with showit websites! I had used a template based website before, but was really wanting have something unique and different. My website is a huge part of my business and really wanted to go in a signature direction.

The Wiebe Family

I recently had the chance to capture this amazing family with my camera. Colin & Deb are amazing, they are the parents to 4 incredible children, all the time both working full time as nurses. I don't know how you manage to pull it off! But they do this family is full of love, fun and laughter. It didn't take long to feel like I was part of the family and had known them for years.

Holly + Morley: Married

As I stepped into the house, I saw Wicked, the cutest little dog all ready for his parents big day. He even put on his tuxedo for the event. Holly & Morley were married in her home town. Holly has got to be the most beautiful custom combiner/semi-truck driver I have ever seen. I thought she was joking when we first started talking about what she did. But she rocks out those 18 wheels in style!

Her and Morley made the most beautiful couple. From their matching Dodge Diesels, to the Fuchsia accents, to the brand spankin new John Deere combine all Holly's! I had a blast with their whole crew, even Holly's Great Grandma managed to charm my heart, she was full of spunk!

Donna + Brian: Engaged

She's Sikh, He's half French, Half Ukrainian. But together the make the most adorable couple. I am so excited for their wedding next month. What a thrill for me to do 2 ceremonies in one day. First the Sikh ceremony, full of color, music and tradition. Then she will slip into her beautiful white wedding gown for a western ceremony in late afternoon. I just can't wait! Donna to have some fun on with her engagement photos, a mix of relaxation with her man with the sun shining brightly over them as they nuzzled together near the tracks. He'd whisper, she'd laugh. He'd take her hand, she'd twirl. He'd lean over and kiss the soft parts of her shoulder, and she'd sit and be loved. Donna and Brian make each other better. They are simply fabulous and I know their day is going to be amazing! Here are a few of photos from their engagement session...

Donna, is from the west coast, and right after I moved back from Victoria, we met had the same vision for her photography and I am so happy she chose me to shoot her special day

Jennica + Keenan : Engaged

These two high school soulmates will be married next month in Regina, and I had the opportunity to shoot some engagement photos for them. Right after that, Jennica and Keenan are off to Ontario, where I know she will show her skillz and become the next ultra fabulous, chic designer this side of the pacific! Skye+Luke: Engagement

When asked how they first met, Luke flashed Skye his smile, and she turned to Skye insisting she's way better at telling the story and so here it is. They met seven years ago at the University of Saskatchewan. Skye was in her first year and Luke in his second, both attending the College of Agriculture. Skye is a sweet city girl, and no offence out there to my cowboy friends, but she was not really into the typical Ag Guys: wrangler jean wearing, belt buckle, cowboy get-up. Even her dad joked about if Skye went into Ag she would end up marrying a farmer! Guess dads have an intuition about these things because Luke is a farm kid.

Lucky for Skye, (who was determined not to date a cowboy) Luke didn''t fall into the typical cowboy mold. She noticed him right away, probably because he was wearing board shorts and had long blond hair. He definitely stood out next to the other guys. It was not until the Christmas party that they hit it off and ended up exchanging phone numbers and he called me for a date the next night.

Skye suggested sushi, which was fun because Luke had never used chopsticks before, but took it like a champ! And after the movie, which neither can remember because of the nagging thoughts of whether to hold hands or not. But it went pretty well as right after they were a couple. So when it came time to pop the question, Luke arranged to have a private Christmas dinner before they got together with the family. They decided to also exchange their gifts and get it out of they way because of the busy family Christmas a couple days later. Luke barely looked at his gift while insisting she opened hers. So Skye thought she knew what was coming next... she was getting so excited to see the ring, when SURPRISE... what a beautiful GREEN SCARF!! She looked deeper into the gift bag certain, there must me some mistake it has to be in here. So while she was distracted doing that Luke was already beside her on one knee. In the end she got her surprise!

Skye & Luke I had a blast out with the two of you, my stomach hurt at the end of the night from laughing along with you. I can't wait for your dream wedding this summer, you guys rock!

Coreen + Scott: Anytime

I recently had the opportunity to meet Scott and Coreen, I had heard so much about them. They were fun, and so in love. What a treat for me and my little camera! Thanks you two! I had so much fun, despite the 5 minute black fly attack!

I must admit, I wasn't really sure how this shoot would turn out, with the looming thunder storms on the horizon, the sky and light were amazing. And the rain held off long enough for another amazing shoot.

Erin + Adam: Engaged

Even with the heavy rain clouds looming in the distance, and a dramatic sky overhead, that did not phase Erin & Adam one bit. These two childhood sweethearts were so in love and a treat to have behind my lens.
Not having met them before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, which sometimes adds a little pressure! Imagine showing up and having some crazy girl in cowboy boots, who talks to much/fast start shooting photos of you at machine warp speed--it can be jarring!
Good thing for me that Erin and Adam were complete naturals, and since my style of shooting is basically to just walk around and see what we can find that looks good, we were in the perfect location to shoot some great photos!

This couple is so awesome--they have a chemistry and a love about them that is absolutely infections and all three of us were laughing through pretty much the entire shoot. I can't wait to shoot their wedding in September, Its couples like this that make my job so much fun!

Crystal + Brock : Engaged

What a beautiful night spent together with two people so in love, and who can forget their awesome dogs, one who was meant to play in the doggy NBA. Look at those legs!

Crystal & Brock met through her sister, after Brock slipped in to her salon for a cut. Her sister has tried many times before to set her up, but to no avail! So as Brock is getting his hair cut she asked him if he was single which kind of creeped him out as he noticed her wedding rings! So he said "yes happily so" She then proceeded to tell him that she had a sister for him! She told him a little about Crystal including her birthday which is 10 days before his! He made the joke that it had been a while since he had dated an older woman! So after the cut and color he decided on a whim to leave his name and number for me thinking nothing would come of it.

Not to long after, Crystal called Brock, they chatted for a bit and she made a fool of myself by telling him that she liked hanging out with Movies yes hanging out with movies!! So he thought she was cute and asked me to coffee and the funny part was he was only one building away from Crystal at his moms house visiting!!

From their coffee date, to their first home together to their surprise proposal, I think they both owe her sister a huge Thank-You! Great match Marcia!

kristin + steve : engaged

The street sat still while sunlight danced and flickered off the nearby shop windows. Kristin & Steve smiled and waved from a distance. The minute Kristin and I were a couple feet of each other, she greeted me with her amazing smile and huge hug. She may be tiny, but has a heart bigger than life! They were cuddling close to each other, Steve trying keep her warm—she in her amazing dress and he in his sweet kicks, and plaid shirt! We had only met a once before, but she was just as sweet and genuine as the first time I met here. And Steve was the cool collected skater/biker guy that everyone loves. They are so in love and were a treat to shoot. I had so much fun capturing these two as they laughed, joked smiled, cuddled and were totally comfortably in love with each other. I can't wait for their big day next summer! Five years ago, Steve & Kristin met through a mutual friend that they both worked with. she was working at the Gap and Steve at West 49. They hung occasionally and would always hook up on Broadway this eventually let to their courtship. I laughed when she told me how their first date was "just a movie" and how she really wanted Steve to hold her hand, and that lead to a cheesy suggestion, which led to more awkward hand-holding.I love it! I found out later that Steve is quite the "closet writer" who would of thought this hip-tough guy- motorcycling dude would have a way with words? So here’s how this story became a love story of two about to become one...
Christmas morning 2008, Kristin & Steve have opened up all their presents when he surprises her with one more gift.. It was a present with a blue with a big pink ribbon around it. Inside was a rolled up piece of paper with another pink ribbon. The writing on the paper lead me on a search around our house.

Clue 1:"Merry Christmas Sweetheart, I hope you Santa was good to you. But to find your next present, you'll have to find your next clue. It will be rolled up neatly, and tied with a small bow. So into your new closet is where you should go."

Clue 2:"Your two fuzzy friends that live next to the couch, they hide the thing you seek, it's inside their house."

Clue 3:"Now down in the basement, there stands a small man. He'll have the thing your clue, right the is his hand" (the small man
was one of his hockey figures)

Clue 4:"Back upstairs, Kristin, right next to the tree. You'll find the man who loves you, he'll be down on one knee."

She then proceeded to yell "ARE YOU SERIOUS", ran upstairs and started crying. Kristin may not recall exactly what Steve said to her as all she could do was cry with excitement and say how she couldn't see the ring... (due to the crying).

You guys are awesome, fun and I am blessed to have clients as amazing as you two. I can't wait for your wedding! Enjoy some of my favorites:

Taryn: Anytime

Taryn came from Vancouver to visit with some friends from School. She just completed a grueling 18 months of "Dental Hygiene Bootcamp" and is now a full fledged Hygienist! She even has the pearly whites to prove it...

Congratulations we are so proud of you! The afternoon she was set to fly home, we did an impromptu photo shoot and it was amazing. Taryn, you are beautiful inside and out, you radiate, and your laughter is contagious! It was so great to meet you.

Kirby & Chantal: Married

What a great week spent in beautiful Costa Rica. Kirby and Chantal were married under a dramatic tropical sky, sand in between their toes, and surrounded by loving family & friends.

Robin & I were honored to capture their beautiful ceremony on the very same beach where we were married just 6 months earlier. Chantal was stunning, and brought even me to tears as I shot, thanks Tal!

As we captured their formal shots on the beach Kirby & Chantal watched the sun go down over the pacific embraced in each others arms. It was amazing! Then we all partying, laughed and cried into the night and even took in a magic show or too**! The next day the four of us headed out to explore Costa Rica. Kirby & Chantal opted for a day after shoot, we headed around to local sugar cane fields, quaint little towns, and then it was time for the big finally, they trashed the dress, I did it and I think everyone should do it too!

Thanks for being so welcoming and fabulous you two, we are both blessed honored to call you our friends.

PURA VIDA!

This week has been crazy lots of shoots, and lots to edit. Today I am leaving for Costa Rica today for a destination wedding. We'll be away until May 11, so if you call or email, our responses will be delayed. Thanks in advance for understanding!

Garett and Erin are from the same home town. He's older, they didn't have too much to do with each other in school but knew of each other. What could they have in common?

Their best friends were brother and sister, and on warm summer nights when everyone gathered together at their house, they started to notice the gazes and smiles back and forth to each other from across the room.

So after 5 years together, through school, long distance, and a lot of love, Garett proposed just before sunset on a beautiful beach in Punta Cana. A simple proposal was all it took and she said YES! They can't wait to be married surrounded by friends and family in the town where it all began.

It was -32 below zero but they are so in love it didn't matter! Chanss and Jen had a beautiful day despite the cold and had really wanted outdoor photos of their day. We are so lucky to work with couples like Ryan & Marion. We got together last week to shoot their session and we spent two hours having fun! They are such a good looking couple and so easy to work with. They were so upbeat and willing to try whatever we come up with. Thanks you two for the great session!

I had the chance to capture this adorable couple on a great sunny day, we found some gorgeous colors and had a blast. Steve and Vicki are so much fun, and she laughed and giggled the whole time. It felt like we had the city to our selves. Thanks for being great people to capture, and I can't wait for your wedding that is right around the corner!
